How to sell wine collection in Italy?

by B Lorenz » Wed Jun 02, 2010 11:51 am

Sorry I'm new to the forum and would like to get advice from experts.
I have a cellar with a large quantity of wine collectors and wine for sale, I would sell everything together as I do?

Welcome to the forum.

If I understand your question correctly, you have a large collection with a number of potentially famous or expensive wines that you are looking to sell?

If so, I would start by contacting a trusted local wine merchant & asking them if they are aware of local services that can do an assessment of the cellar and determine what the auction/resale value of the wine (all or some) might be.

Tat's a good first step.

Thanks for your reply, the winery has already been evaluated.
The problem is that I would sell everything together, but I can not find anyone willing affair.

Should I find a person or company willing to pay a good amount of money for good wines.

I apologize for English

You could contact an auction house, but again they might only take the "gems" and leave you with things that are hard to sell.

What about trying Winebid? Or perhaps Brentwood? Some internet retailers (I trust Blicker Pierce (www.bpwines.com)) might be helpful.

I believe you're writing from Italy. There, as here in the U.S, there are probably a number of wine brokers who would offer you a lump sum for your collection and actually remove it from it's current storage location for the purpose of reselling it (after they investigated the condition of the bottles). Maybe one of our European friends would reccomend someone who is Italy-based. Or maybe that's not neccessary, and London would do. Sotheby's?
