OH! OH! OH! MOCool!

by JuliaB » Wed May 26, 2010 9:36 pm

It's time we had....

THE BIG O!!

Eaux...OT…O!

MOCOOL 2O1O

WHEN: Saturday, August 14, 2010 @ 2:00- ?

WHERE: Ann Arbor/ Detroit Michigan area

WHAT: The longest running offline gathering of online wine lovers in internet history (we think).

COST: $60.00 per person + 1 bottle of wine

Registration link coming soon…save the date!

The Theme: Wines in which the grape name, or the appellation name, ends in the sound of “OH”! (i.e. Bordeaux, Oporto, pinot, Albarino, Barolo, Nebbiolo, Proseccco, Duero …etc) This is a thinking person’s theme: the mo’ you think about it, the mo’ you go: ‘oh’!

(Off theme wines are welcome, but will be expected to elicit a big ""OH! 8) )

The Picnic: An exquisite feast, lovingly prepared by the internationally renowned, Chef Alan Kerr. Join the chorus of "oooooooooooo, aaaaaaaaaaaah, mmmmmmmmmmmmm" as you indulge in this orgy of gastronomic delights. Oooh ..oh ..YES!

Lodging : We will again rent the beds in the cabins at the breathtakingly scenic picnic site. Oh so relaxing.. Reservation information TBA.

Nearby location: The Best Western in Whitmore Lake, ten minutes north of Ann Arbor on US23 and 20 minutes from the Saturday picnic. Phone: 734.449.2058.

Come on ...you know you want to!

We are looking forward to attending this year's MoCool .... as opposed to just paying for it! :(

Unfortunately, the same family reunion as last year will occur the weekend before MoCool. Hope I come out of this one in better shape!
Cheers!

JB you are spending way too much time either watching internet porn or..... I hope it is the latter and not the former. Well done my love. Have fun. As you know, this is the summer of my discontent. No going anywhere for me.

Not going anywhere? Isn't that a bit of an over-reaction to Always-Chokin' and the Caps going out in the first round?

Jimmy,
I am a malcontent about your summer of discontent. I understand, and continue to hope for good news soon.

How are the Penguins doing? Is Crosby going to show up any time soon?

While we are talking sports teams, let's compare baseball team records. I'll put my Nats up against your Pirates any day of the week! (Are they still playing major league ball in Pittsburgh?)

Then we can compare the recent rape complaint record of the quarterbacks of our two football teams.

You might do well to keep your mouth shut for a while Mikey!!!

I have no reason to be quiet. The Penguins lasted longer than the Caps, as usual. Not to mention 3 Cups to none. And Sid the Kid still has Always-Chokin' beat to hell and back, a fact that all the hockey pundits now agree on.

The Pirates vs the Nats is like picking between the Yugo and the Edsel. No points there. Still, there are a lot more World Series banners flying in the 'burgh than over our nation's crapital.

Do the Redskins even have a QB? And I wouldn't be pointing fingers at anyone if I were you given Haynesworth's recent troubles. Not to mention there are lot more Lombardis hanging out on the north shore of the Monongahela/Ohio than anywhere near the Potomac.

Hell, even pro basketball in the 'burgh was more successful than in DC. The ABA franchise didn't last long, but it did win the inaugural title. Does anyone in Washington play professional basketball other than the Hoyas?

James, I suggest you are the one to keep quiet about comparative sports achievements. Remember the line from The Untouchables about bringing a knife to a gunfight?

Fact is, D.C sports suck.
Cheers!

You're right, of course, Chef. The little dears; this is why we love them so. ( I just have to sit them on the naughty chairs, every now and then  )

I won't be able to make MOCool, but here's a suggestion to anyone who wants to bring the Oh! of the Show (from Michigan no less): Left Foot Charley Pinot Grigio. I've written about this Traverse City winery before and it seems to keep getting better and better. This Pinot Grigio is beautifully balanced with a fresh fruity taste that just won't quit. If there's a better Pinot Grigio for $15 please let me know. (I have no interest in Left Foot Charley).

Just to build some MoMentum, a vestigial 2010 MoCool website is starting to take shape.

And any newbies thinking about making the trip are encouraged to take a look at the decade-plus of photos / writeups that Robin did right here on the WLP.

Dan, I'm sorry you won't be able to make it, we're expecting it to be a great one! You are so right about Left Foot Charley, Brian Uhlbrich is doing wild and wonderful things there, isn't he?!

Thanks for the suggestion!

Cheers!
