I visited a very nice new Wine Bar in Walnut Creek (the Stepford County/Orange County of the Bay Area

) and thought they deserved some kudos. Residual Sugar Wine Bar is a simple linear space with a wall of wine along one side that includes a pretty diverse range for a smallish shop. The bar fills the rest of the room. A nice menu of by the glass reds, whites, and bubblies...I tried a glass of Argentine Malbec that was very pleasant. They had Corison 2000 Cabernet for $28 per bottle! Killer price. The owners seem very pleasant and down to earth-no Walnut Creek snobbery here-and their bar helper seemed well informed and was very pleasant and welcoming. A nice new spot for East Bay people!
