WTN: A tasty wine from southern France

Medium garnet red. Expressive nose of dark fruit especially purple plums and blackberries with a hint of chocolate. A burst of fruit on entry followed by smooth but significant tannins and a tingly acidic wave with a peppery tinge on the midpalate. Medium long finish of dark fruit and acidity with an echo of tannin grip. This is a seamless wine with great balance that goes well with food. A nice match with slow roasted beef coated with dijon mustard. It brings out the spiciness of the wine. Medium bodied and a good sipper too.

Chateau de Fontenelles Corbieres 2006 Cuvee Renaissance 13.5 % abv 55 % syrah, 30% grenache, 15% old vines carignan and mouvedre.
