- 2007 Futo OV - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville (5/7/2010)
We drank half the bottle last night. I kept checking on it through the night as it sat in the glass. A tasty oak bomb. Sweet creamy fruit. Actually very nice balance for the style but the price is a bit of a joke. Will finish the bottle tomorrow night and give an update.
Actually we waited an extra night and then the wine also sat in my glass for about 4 hours. Really not much change as far as flavors developing. When I am craving this style of wine, this would certainly fit the bill ... but not the $$ bill. It is listed at 15.5% but the alch seemed to suit the wine. (90 pts.)
- 2006 Harris Estate Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Treva's Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (3/5/2010)
This is certainly young. I tried early, gave lots of air and the left for the next day. Very enjoyable and a lot of tannic and acid structure but otherwise it seemed to lack complexity. Admittedly it is very difficult to get past the oak, and I don't mind oak but this is oakity oak. I would have liked a little more concentration to match the oak. With the structure this wine should show improvement hence my score. (89 pts.)
Cheers!

You have been a busy boy with all this drinking!!! And neither of these sounds particularly worthy of searching out. Too bad. I'm still sitting on a couple of bottles of the 2005 Futo. I have tried one bottle, and it sounds like it had more elegance than the OV.
Cheers, Jim

Okay, so you made me go looking for prices. And I found $140 for the '06. I don't imagine the 07 was any more reasonable.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

It should be noted that both of these bottles were gifts. I ain't paying $140 for that.
