I opened a a lone wolf bottle of '01 Tegrimo Castel Pietraio last night with a homemade pizza. It was a very nice wine. Full bodied, lots of dark fruit and just enough tannins and acidity to let you know where it was from. It would have lasted several more years. My wife had two glasses which says a lot. Went great with the pizza which had some chipolte oil on the crust, italian sausage and lots of arugula. I was impressed and started looking at the label. It was a super tuscan, 13%, but said nothing about what grapes were in the blend. It only said it was from red varieties (Duh!!) and hand selected. I thought this was very odd. Don't know why I bought it but must have tried it at a tasting. My guess is that it is a large % sangiovese with some cab. Could look it up but would rather just enjoy my "phantom" wine and stay in the dark.
