2006 Joh. Bapt. Schäfer Scheurebe Kabinett Nahe 8.0%
Lovely nose, flabby mouth. Attractive scheurebe fruit salad aromas (pear, green apple, peach, citrus) with light minerality. Before food, fruit strikes you upfront, acid tingles you in midpalate, sleeping on separate beds, acid may have been added. After food, acid vanishes, leaving candied sweetness. Not too satisfying.

Don't know if it's the vintage, or malos that shouldn't have been allowed, or poor use of the acid bag (if such a thing as good use exists).

The name sounds so classic I had assumed it was my ignorance... Imported by Savio Soares.

Oh, and as far as added acidity - '06 was not the year for that. Some producerstried it in 2003, but it was rather unsuccessful.
