WTN: Pépière Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Clos des Briords VV

by geo t. » Wed May 12, 2010 3:40 pm

2005 Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Clos des Briords, Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, 12% alc.: Clean medium straw to pale gold in color; river stones and rainwater nose follows through on the palate with subtle notes of under-ripe yellow apple and praline. More than medium bodied, with a smooth texture that belies the ample acids and a finish that lingers long and pleasantly. A lovely wine that’s starting to come into its own; it’s not just textbook Muscadet, it’s REALLY GOOD Muscadet. As Allan Bree put it, “It was all angles in its youth, now it’s all shoulders and hips.”

I always have the best of intentions to hold on to at least one of these for a few years.. but so far, no luck. I seem to not be able to not not drink them young.
Cheers, Jim

Be not too troubled, we all have our failings, James...

George, I've been kind but the time has come for you to explain the Redwings in a short coherent paragraph. :( San Jose is very happy. :D :D

Nice one Lou....but the Habs are going to win the cup this year!!

I would be hard pushed to keep my hands off this Pepiere, allowing for the fact that I could find it!!

Lou, you and a lot of others have been waiting 16 years to gloat, because that's the last time the Sharks have beaten the Wings when it really matters. You know as well as I that there's nothing to explain; two very evenly matched teams played 5 tough games, with the Sharks winning 4 by the slimmest of margins and the Wings winning one in a blowout. Not the kind o' trade-off I would have preferred, but it is what it is. Good luck to your Sharks!

thanks for notes. I have one mag for the future, but sound like a good time to revisit a 750

George, I confess that I'm not really a big Sharks fan. I do read the sports pages and I'm aware of a few friends who are hockey fans but to be totally candid hockey is not really a "biggy" in this part of the world. I just couldn't help picking on you knowing how you live and die wth the Redwings. I'll dedicate my first glass of wine this weekend to YOUR hockey team. You'll getem next year.

Respectfully, I disagree. This wine smells like the Atlantic Ocean.
