Tips on Toulouse?

by Hoke » Tue May 11, 2010 8:45 pm

I'm heading for Cahors in a little over a week. Through the vagaries of transportation and the need for some jet lag recovery time, I'll be in Toulouse for all of one day (although over two days time).

I'll have a hotel right down close to the train station.

Any reccos for Toulouse for the short time I'm there? Anyone? Anyone? Ferris??

sorry, never been there, always afraid I'd have a coronary from just sausage, cassoulet, and foie gras.
I do remember that my stepson said (and he's literally 50X as traveled as I am, at 42% of my age) that it was a cool city to just walk around.

You know what they say, Hoke: No time, Toulouse! (with apologies to Terry Gilliam)

Hoke,

You might send an e-mail to these guys, someone may be free: http://www.invinoveritastoulouse.fr/

However, Bordeaux is a heck of a lot closer to Cahors than Toulouse. If you make a detour, I'll be happy to feed and water you :-).

Pleae don't forget that Monday the 24th of May is a public holiday. Everything will be closed.

Best regards,
Alex R.

Alex, thanks.

FYI, I am going in part because of Evelyn, who's also involved with the conference. Tried to get to Bordeaux so I could see Eve and Randy (and you, perhaps), but couldn't make it work on such a short junket, sadly. Have to be back to teach my classess (the same evening of the day I return, urk) so couldn't lay over after conference. Besides, they're routing me through Toulouse on this one. But again, thanks.
