Buying wine online in the summer? is that a bad idea?
I imagine it would be sitting in a hot delivery truck/warehouse for a few days, is that bad for the wine?

It's dicey unless you go for next day delivery during a brief cool spell.
Most of us avoid it where possible.

Buying? No.
Delivery? Maybe.
In other words, go ahead and buy, lots of places will hold your wine till the weather turns.
