In an amazing place right now, combining primary red fruited and herbal flavours with developed cedar, bloody and leathery notes and a faint whiff of barnyard. The tannins are barely noticeable, this has such a silky, polished mouthfeel that it's hard not to think of a top Burgundy on account of the texture alone.

Did this come from the Varennes du Grand Clos vineyard, Salil? If so, I think that the vines have since been grubbed up, 06 or 07 being the last vintage.
I had the Baudry equivalent recently but your Joguet sounds more complete. Here is a repeat of my note on the Baudry - Chinon Franc de Pied 2002 - Bernard Baudry - Alc. 12.5% - was no more than light/medium in body but was delicious with pure aromas of fresh red fruit, pencil shavings and minerals and lively acidity on a harmoniously linear palate with good length and elegance. No signs of age in its 8th year; 16/20.
Hi Tim, Yes - this was from Les Varennes du Grand Clos. Shame to hear about the loss of the vines. (Another fine FdP bites the dust ) Had the '02 Baudry FdP as well in February, that really is a lovely wine. Just hoping I can get my hands on a little of the '08 if/when it's brought here...
