WTN: Two Hands "Yesterday's Hero" Grenache 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Sep 02, 2006 4:36 pm

Barossa Valley.

Decnated.

Quite thick in the mouth, concentrated and rich, fleshy cherry fruit, a hint of cherry cough drops, tarry and some charred-charcoal notes.

Very nice.

Screwcap closure.

My first experience with Two Hands. Based on everything I had heard about this winery, I guess I had been expecting something really incredible. The wine was quite good, but certainly not one that I will remember for years to come.

I guess all the hype I have read raised my expectations to an unfair and unrealistic level. Live and learn.

Screwcap closure.

Bought it in Vancouver, during our two week vacation there in July, at Marquis Wine Store. It was $41.90 (plus a government-mandated ten cent depoit on the bottle) :)

Is there a touch of (presumably intended) irony in the wine name "Yesterdays Hero", for a company that has previously enjoyed some cult wine success? Or even a swipe at the Marquis who IIRC have left the project?

Sounds interesting-more like a darker French style Grenache rather than the strwaberry sweet Ojai Grenache I tried the other day.
