2005 Schloss-Schonborn, Hattenheimer Pfaffenberg, Kabinett Rheingau (#30 06)
Almost clear color in the stem. Ripe apricot and peach on the front end with granny smith on the follow. I didn't detect any pear so maybe I'll be changing my "Del Monte Guy" signature :) . This was a bit sweeter and had a bit more acid than the Von Simmern I tasted earlier this week. Good, but not great, as once again this is another 2005 Riesling that I found to be lower in acid. I have not tasted a lot of 2005s yet and most of what I have tasted in from Rheingau. However, I'm quickly coming to a preliminary conclusion that this might not be my kind of vintage (a bit too ripe and lower acidity) for my acidophile palate. I should mention that others liked this quite a bit and we sold through the case or so we had in-stock at the $18 price point.
