2004 Konyari Kékfrankos -Balatonlelle, Hungary 12%
(Hungarian Blaufränkisch)

I have only a couple of bottles left of this from a case I bought a few years ago. It has never tasted better. Still ruby red with only the slightest color-fading at the rim. There are certainly some aged Loire Cab Franc similarities here (or somewhere between Chinon and Moulin-A-Vent.) Sweet & tart black cherries, blueberries, lavender, chicory, and old-style black licorice candy and a healthy dose of brettanomyces in a very sleek, ductile presentation. Trifecta! Interesting, authentic, and delicious.

Cheers,
Bill
