2001 von Hövel Oberemmeler Hütte Riesling Kabinett
This shows well from the corkpull, golden maturing crisp riesling stalk. Some slight honeyed richness in the middle that is stretching out into its age but mostly this is cool silvery tasty fun tangy and easy to drink. Nothing to meditate over but certainly a fun way to start any festivity.

2006 Patrick Jasmin Côte Rôtie
Starts out very grapey and primary and never quite shows all that (I suspect) is here. Nonetheless, after a few hours of air it was well worth my drinking time. Juicy and supple with a fine acid/tannin structure and one has to love all the floral aromas wafting up and out of the wine. Here’s hoping for even better showings in the future.
