This was fun!

A local brewery, Stadin Panimo, has released a series of single hop beers. I only saw two of them in the shop but I still had to do a mini-comparison:

Amarillo Pale Ale smells of oranges - it is quite a sweet aroma. Fruity, soft, lightly carbonated, 40 IBU but it doesn't seem to bring an aggressiveness to the palate. It was a like Gewurz equivalent in beer: hugely aromatic, yet lacking in bite and incisiveness.

The Boadicea Bitter was better: it had some attractive pepperiness and herbaceousness to the scent. This also has 40 IBU, but here it is nicely refreshing and provides some bite. The beer has good grip - it feels almost like a tannic structure in wine! Nice stuff. I hope to see the others soon.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

Fun beers, Otto. Great idea to produce single variety hop beers for geeks like us! I hope these beers will come to Sweden. Thanks for the notes.
Cheers, Anders
