WTN: 2006 Four Graces Pinot Noir, Oregon

by Jenise » Thu Apr 01, 2010 2:33 pm

Thought I read good things about this producer on this board, so happily picked up a bottle when I saw one a few months ago. Not impressed: lighter than usual color leaning toward mauve, herbal nose. On the palate, cherry/rhubarb fruit with a bit of green tomato at first impress as Burgundian, but where with that lead-in you typically expect a wine to open up and reveal better things, this one went the other direction, fruit dropping out and fading into a bitter finish. We poured the last half the bottle down the drain.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I overheard a conversation between a lady at a wine dinner and a general manager of an upper-end Japanese restaurant in Raleigh and he was assuring her he had the Four Graces on hand for her next visit to the restaurant (not sure if they were discussing the Pinot Gris or the Pinot Noir.) I have seen it on other restaurant lists in the Triangle area but haven't tasted it yet.

You could have given it to a homeless shelter.
