2000 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine du Caillou Les Quartz
I am not usually a fan of more modern style Chateauneuf, but this is delicious. Perhaps it's the bit of earthy funk on the nose that draws me in, but the balance of fruit, earth and structure just keeps pulling me back sip after sip after sip. Personally I think it's still very young, and it does have some vanilla elements to still burn off but you could do a whole lot worse than to drink this elixir now.

Too bad the Brillat Savarin ruined it. Funny that Courtois makes a Quartz from Les Cailloux du Paradis.

Luckily I only had the Brillat-Savarin as an appetizer.
