Finger Lakes East

The latest expansion of Finger Lakes wineries has been in the Aurora - Union Springs area on the east side of Cayuga Lake. This map indicates the general area, although none of the new wineries is shown on it yet. These wineries include: Bet the Farm, Aurora; Dills Run Winery, Union Springs; Heart and Hands Wine Co., Union Springs; CJS Vineyards, Aurelius; and, Izzo's White Barn Winery, Cayuga. Along with Anyela's Vineyards on Skaneatles, Chateau Dusseau in Locke and several already established wineries, the new kid on the block is Finger Lakes East.

With the exception of Anyela's, I hadn't heard of any of these wineries until earlier today..an article in our local paper
indicated that there will be a tour of the wineries Dan listed plus 6 Mile Creek, (Ithaca), King Ferry, (King Ferry), and Long Point, (between Aurora and King Ferry)...The winemakers will give presentations, answer general questions..most of the aprticipating wineries will waive tasting fees for those on the tour, you can start at any of the aprticipating wineries, probably run from noon to 5 The talks aer free, there wil be prizes for those visiting 6 wineries

I have no finacial interest in any of these wineries, the article appeared in this morning's Syracuse Post-Standard..
Anyela's is a beautiful facility..my wife went to a bridal shower hosted there last year and we tasted 2 of their wines at a charity affair held in Skanateales last summer. tasted a red and a rather unusual white blend..Unusual in that I would not have thought to blend Reisling and chardonnay..I think there was a third grape in the mix as well but my memory is not what it used to be.. I have been to King Ferry (nice chards) and Long Point (check out the zins)
