WTN: Chateau D'Angludet 1989

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Mar 30, 2010 8:52 am

Margaux

Decanted about 30 minutes before dinner.

Moderate dark red, with browning at the rim.

Tobacco, earth, sweet fruit on the nose, changing later to balsamic vinegar.

Light to medium bodied, quite drying, light black cherrry fruit, very tangy acidity, earthy, tarry, black olive, balsamic vinegar, tobacco, tarragon, crisp.

A very long and gentle finish, drying, spicy and black olives.

This wine holds a special place in my heart, representing my first major purchase of "fine" wine. Back in the early 1990s, I bought a case of this for laying down and this is the second-last bottle from that case. Obviously this should have been finished off about a decade ago, but it remains an interesting drinking experience.

funny, I was just having a discussion re Angludet on another forum. Seems to be very popular in UK, but I basically never see in US.
Thanks for notes
