Nope-not an obscure Burgundy producer. This is a hobby project run by a German-born hotelier and investor in Napa, with vineyards on the edge of Mount Veeder and wines produced by one of my favorite Napa winemakers, Tom Farella.
Anyway, the local WineStyles has made a deal with them and has brought in several vintages dating back to 1999. These wines are a treat to my palate, with plenty of earth, savoryness, black olive, a hint of green pepper. They seem to show nice mature flavors within ten years. The 2000 we tasted last night maybe past its absolute peak (the cork was a little wonky), but I loved the layers of earthy savory mature goodness. Delicious! The labels are also way cool and very Old World/Old School in character. A nice discovery!
