2008 Meulenhof Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese * Alte Reben
QPR of the year so far. Under $20, under screwcap; packed with bright lime, apple and orange fruit over layers of slate - sweet up front, but then a wave of herbal and faintly saline notes wash in on the back end and this finishes incredibly long and almost savoury. Not to forget the really good acidity here, which makes this feel almost electric with its sense of energy and vibrancy. Stunning wine and I need more of this.

Sounds lovely. Seems as though the vintage character has tempered the Meulenhf tendency towards very lush richness all the way through.
