VDP du Gard.
This wine was hard as nails on release but wonderful last night with beef bourgogne.
Smoky raspberry/blackberry with a good dose of cherry cough syrup and hints of pepper and licorice. Still a small dose of fine tannins on the linguring finish which should resolve in a few more years. Not your typical deep syrah from the Languedoc-Roussillon, especially in this vintage, but a brighter wine. If served blind I would have guessed grenache was the main grape. It was wonderful. Paired great with the beef. 14% Alc/vol. $11
