WTN: Angime Insolia-Chardonnay 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Mar 10, 2010 8:10 pm

IGT Sicilia
Cusumano

A 70-30 per cent blend.

Bright, rich gold in the glass

Citrus rind, bitter, floral and talc on the nose.

Medium weight, rather hefty in the mouth, citrusy, lemon, a hint of orange, lightly peppery, good acidity, clean, floral, a light bitter streak.

Mouthwatering finish.

Here is a classic example of why I enjoy seeking out grapes that are "off the beaten path." This wine offers a host of different and unsual taste and smell sensations, many of which I am simply unable to properly describe. My first experience with the Insolia grape.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).
