1. Tensley Syrah ColsonCanyonVnyd/SBC (15.4%) 2004: Very dark/black color w/ no bricking; intense licorice/boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah some pungent/roasted/espresso rather Oz-style bit complex nose; soft very rich/lush licorice/blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/DrPepper light toasty/oak some pungent/roasted/coffee lovely flavor; long slight tannic boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah/licorice bit pungent/coffee finish; beautiful/classic Tensley Syrah that's probably approaching its peak.

when i was there last year i was told that only the top cuve was aged in new oak. i didn't notice any overt oak on the others such as the colson. since i tasted the '07's, maybe they changed style since the '04. i really liked these wines - some of the best new world versions i've had.
