WTN: Great if Green Veeder Cab

by Brian K Miller » Mon Mar 08, 2010 11:55 am

1999 Godspeed Cabernet Sauvignon (Mount Veeder) from 375 ml. At Bounty Hunter.

If you don't mind a little green, this is a lovely, fascinating, earthy, tobacco/leather/herbs/cassis fruit/red berries wine. Delicious with sliders and veggies. I've enjoyed this Cabernet before, and it comes through again!

Sounds very nice. I find a little bit of green makes Cabernet more interesting, and I've had very few Cabs that were all about fruit without any real greenness that I really enjoyed. I'm finding these days that Cab Sauvignon or Franc with that herbal/tobacco element is right in my wheelhouse.

Yep...but it's a fine line to me. I don't like cabernet when it tastes like jalapenos have been added to the must

See my note under the Loire theme...the Domaine de Noblaie is fantastic for rich fruit underlain by the hint of green notes.
