WTN: 2008 Oestricher Lenchen, Weingut Spreitzer

Nose into the glass and it is met by amazingly intense and wonderfully pure Riesling fruit. Very fresh and racy with notes of roses, citrus and apples. Also the taste is most intense and exactly as racy as (almost) only Rheingau Riesling can be. Dense and almost powerful with a fresh, singing acidity. A long, tasty end with that slightly bitter minerality that is typical of the middle of Rheingau (Oestrich, Winkel). Magnificent wine and a must-buy. A lot of wine for 245 SEK (26 EUR, USD 34).

Great, under appreciated producer. I buy their Oestricher Lenchen Kabinett every year that I can find it. Right now I have the '02, '04, '05 & '07 in the cellar. The Spreitzer brothers are also rather popular with the ladies. Whenever they come to NYC for the Terry Theise portfolio tasting their table is rather crowded...

Nice note, Anders! Thank you! I will look for it; I'm always up for racy.
