2008 Šipun Žlahtina (Vrbnik - Island of Krk, Croatia) cork closure, 11.9% - imported to USA by Empty Glass Wine Selection, Blue Danube Wine Company, Los Altos Hills, California – my first Žlahtina - smell perhaps peanut butter and sweet earthiness and familiar but weird essence, inviting enough, taste thicker texture, creamy with plenty of crispness, this is not an offputting wine but something about it is weird, holds up well but reminds me of beef jerky with grilled cheese, heavy yet crisp yet not, suggests white burgundy of a type I don't like at times, completely okay, but completely would not revisit.
2004 Château de Chamboureau Savennières Roche aux Moines Cuvée d'Avant [Chenin Blanc] (Savennières Roche aux Moines AOC, Loire Valley, western France) cork closure, 14.5% - taste spicy, full flavored complex, crunchy, waxy, cheese, delish, this wine is explosively delicious, a wonderfully contemplative explosion, yum. Paired great with some leftover winter squash.
