WTN: Another Owen Roe Winner

by Jim Grow » Sat Feb 27, 2010 8:59 pm

With wild rabbit tonight, (my last) I opened the 2007 Owen Roe Sharecropper, a Wash. Cab. I decanted in a
crafe for 6 hrs. and it was very nice with a great nose of wild cherry and herb with the palate that followed with some licorice and leather. Very smooth with all that air time but enough tannins to indicate at least 5 more years of development. I am a believer in Owen Roe and will be buying more from this producer. My indocrination continues.

Glad you're enjoying the Owen Roes, Jim. They're hefty, powerful wines but not without finesse. I loved the 07 100% Cab Franc, whose name I can't for the life of me remember right now, a few months ago.

Hi Jenise, That would be the Rosa Mystica which I do not own but will soon. I'm really getting into these Wash. reds.

It was the Rosa Mystica, but it is a 'keeper': needs decanting for current drinking and will reward cellar time, but what a substantial cab franc it is.

I have a bottle of Sharecropper '07 that I picked up in Seattle last August. So I should wait a couple of years yet to open it?

Not necessarily Robert. Patience would be rewarded but with some air time it is quite enjoyable now. Even my wife, who is averse to "big" alcoholic wines loved this one right off. Abv is %14.1
