WTN: Hangin' Snakes Shiraz/Viognier 2008

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Feb 27, 2010 12:12 pm

The Long Mile, Barossa, South Australia
Langmeil

A 95-5 per cent blend.

Dark purple in the glass.

Peach and pear on the nose.

Medium weight, peach, orange, floral, slightly candied, silky in the mouth, good acidity, lots of alcohol (14.5 per cent), with some bitter citrus toward the end.

Orange rind on the finish.

What a bizarre wine. If I had been blindfolded while drinking this, I would have guessed 100 per cent Viognier. There was nothing in this wine to indicate it was a red wine. I would not have thought it possible for five to dominate 95, but here is my proof.

Screwcap closure.
