Goosecross Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Franc. 2006

This was a very nice surprise! (Not that I should be surprised all that much...I like this small winery quite a bit).

Quite a bit of earth and "French" funk when popped and pured.

Nice red berry fruit, with licorice notes and the earthyness/bit of funk continuing on the palate. Nice smooth mouth feel, with excellent acidity and freshness.

With air, the green pepper notes and herbs characteristic of Cab Franc definitely came out more, but unlike the Elizabeth Spencer last week, this wine has enough depth and enough fruit to handle the green notes very well. I am guessing this could be put down a few years with no problems...it would become even more integrated and harmonious!

90 points plus.
