WTN: 2002 François Cazin Cour-Cheverny

2002 François Cazin Cour-Cheverny Cuvée Renaissance 12.5%
My first Romorantin (hey, mr. jaded, stop snickering!). Alluring aromas of lime, chalk and a hint of petrol. Very mineral, the initial burst of sweetness followed by bright acidity and a lovely tartness. At first, and before food, I was distracted by the separation between the sweetness and the acidity, something I associate with acidulation. Anyone know if there's chance of that here? In any case, with food they came together nicely and suspicions gave way to unalloyed pleasure. Satisfying on every level, gotta get more. A lover of undercats & dogs, now I'm going to have to investigate every Romorantin, like I do with Trousseau.

Isn't that a delicious grape? So feminine, confident and beguiling. Haven't had one with this kind of age on it, however--how interesting to know that this is possible. Thanks for the post.

Me too! I've quite enjoyed both the 02 and the 96.
Oswaldo, you should try the "regular" Cazin C-C, drier styled. They also make a straight Cheverny, but I think that's mostly SB.

Thanks, now that I know this grape is so naturally acidic, I'm going to use it to wet my tongue and whiten my teeth.

You could use it to etch your teeth!

Warning though: Brad Kane likes it too.

Great producer, fine grape, lovely wine. Wish I had more.

Henri Marionnet's Provignage is worth trying, made from ancient pre-phylloxera ungrafted vines, although it is pricy.

The $100 price tag has been keeping me away!
