1997 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer, Mosel (8/27/2006)
Opened to accompany Thai green curry made with fresh, local vegetables.

Immediate and effusive aromas of red berries, pineapple, minerals and petrol. The flavors deliver even more than the aromatics promise, as this "lowly, no-star" auslese just slides across the palate with tons of passion fruit, pineapple, strawberry and cherry flavors backed by solid rock. Then, just as you think you've tasted it all, the flavors come at you again with vanilla cream and sun drenched peaches. Absolutely stunning.

My only bottle, but well worth opening now. It was great with the food as well.

David,
Thanks for the note. Have you had your 2-star 1997 Urz Wurz Auslese yet. Is it time to crack open a bottle?
Thanks,
Charles

I have not had the 2 star yet. I opened a one star a while back (leaker) and it was still very young.
