Several months ago, our group met for an Oregon Pinot Noir tasting, and I just got around to sending out the notes. I decided to add a ringer to the 10 bottles of Oregon wine in the blind tasting that evening, a bottle of 2006 Anava Terroir of the Judea Mountains Pinot Noir [14.0% ABV]. This was a gift bottle from a co-worker in Israel. The color was medium light and it had a nice aroma. However, the wine was hot on the palate, overpowering the fruit. Unfortunately, it did not score well relative to the Oregon wines, likely showing just how significant terroir is when growing a grape as delicate at Pinot Noir. Note that according to a web posting I saw from Daniel Rogov, this wine comes from a relatively new winery. I think he enjoyed it more than I did.
