2001 Patrick Lesec Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rubis - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2/19/2010)
This wine is finally in a good place. Previous bottles have been a bit tight and reticent. It's on the supple-Burg like side of CdP. color is light red with a fair amount bricking. Red fruits, garrigue, leather and a touch of barnyard fill the glass. Soft and elegant on the palate. Reminds me of Charvin. Medium bodied with resolved tannins, this paired really nicely with flank steak and Chimichurri sauce, farro-Mediterranean style and sauteed Broccoli Rabe with chili. My last bottle was clearly the best of a 4-pack. Per CT, I paid $19 for this. A steal the way it's drinking now.
