Radio Wine Segment

Leonard Lopate, who hosts a daily interview radio show on New York City's NPR outlet WNYC (93.9 FM, AM820), today had as one of his guests Robin Goldstein, co-author of "The Wine Trials 2010". Mr. Lopate has a rabid following in this market, and with good reason. He manages to get an incredible variety of guests to share his mic every week, talking about every subject under the sun (check out the archives!) and he never insults listeners by dumbing down the show's tone no matter how obtuse the topic. If you have 15 minutes to spare, you might find this a good listen: http://www.wnyc.org/shows/lopate/episodes/2010/02/17/segments/150236.

Also, Mr. Goldstein's comment that wines price points rarely reflect "cost to produce + a reasonable profit" reminds me that the New York Times had a great (if somewhat sad) article in today's "Food and Wine" section highlighting how Napa wineries are trying to weather the economic downturn. It's at: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/17/dining/17napa.html. Very well written, I thought.

I hope you find one or both enjoyable!
