2005 Signorello Estate Cabernet Franc. Inky black in the glass. I know this term is controversial, but this wine was very "mineral" to me. Definitely some red fruit, black anise, savory notes, just a hint of the bell pepper to add freshness. A delicious wine...they only make 70 cases  though. Went very well with braised short ribs! Delicious.

I really enjoy the Signorello wines. Had an opportunity to sit on their terrace Saturday afternoon/evening overlooking the Napa Valley...you could see the sun setting over the Mayacamas Range...a very lovely afternoon. The 2006 Estate Cabernet will be fantastic in a couple of years...lots of leather and tobacco and balanced acidity and alcohol and nice fruit. Not too much fruit, though...this is older school wine in the Clos Du Val/George de la Tour School.

1999 Calon Segur St. Estephe. Not a lot of fruit, but what stood out here was the absolute silkyness of the wine's texture and mouth feel. Very elegant.

2005 Barricci Rosso di Montalcino. Bleh. This may have seen heat sometime and was somewhat indifferently stored, but it tasted stewed and showed some browning. Not very good. Oh well...was pretty cheap at leat.
