WTN: A Muscadet and a Montmiral

by Redwinger » Fri Aug 25, 2006 5:09 pm

These were a few distibutor/importer samples dropped off at the store and tasted today.
2005 Domaine du Millaud, Muscadet
I have not heard of this producer before and know zippo about them except this was a damn fine bottle of Muscadet that rivals Pepiere IMO. If anyone out there has some additional information on them, please pass it along. Clean acidity, a breathh of sea air and brininess, cystaline with aromatics of melon. And, this wine finishes! A joyous wine. I would expect this to ultimately retail for $10 or so and it is recommended at that price. I told the owner he had better buy a bunch of this or I might just kick his ass.

2004 Ch. Montmiral, Cuvee de Beauchamp, Gigondas
I had to look at the label twice to be sure this was a 2004 and not a 2003. An over-ripe, hot alcoholic mess. Devoid of any character that would even hint at its' roots in Gigondas. Hot, sleek, modern and just awful.
Smile, it gives your face something to do!
