Domaine Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin VV 2006
Non-Filtre, Alcohol 13%

My first Bachelet and I was really impressed. Color started out almost violet later turned to red. Nose immediately come forward with earthy Gevrey notes that also came through in the glass. Nice red and black fruit in the full mid-palate, with a longish, though still rather tannic, finish. Especially for the price point ($35 or $40), I thought this the real deal and a real deal. 18+

seriously good wine.
And seriously good score if you paid $35-40, I don't have price recorded, but pretty sure I paid $46 and thought I was getting a real deal.

Anybody with tasting notes on the '04 of this wine? I have a bottle and don't know when best to open.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dale!
It was before I started recording what I paid for every bottle, but you may be right that I got it for $5 or $10 more. (I just checked the place I purchased it from and they had it for $50, but I suspect when I bought it--pre-arrival?--it was $5 less.)
I don't have any '04, so I can't be of help there. And I have to confess to David's wise counsel of discretion that it was in part on his own recommendation that I purchased some Bachelet. (A while back David had a post in which he listed the Burgundy producers that he was consistently interested in purchasing.) Just one of the many things I've learned from reading all of you.

Thanks,
Josh

Richard - I would see little harm in opening an '04 now. I've been peeking in on '04s and (accepting that I am green streak tolerant) have found them generally open and tasty (if young).
