WTN: 2003 Thomas Michael "Chiles Valley" Cabernet Sauvignon

When I tasted this two years ago at a winemaker tasting, I said "meh" at the time. However, after trying a bottle of 2002 vintage from this producer and vineyard, I wanted to take another shot. The two years made a big difference! A vin de guard?

Dark red-black color. Modest alcohol. Tannins integrating but very nice structure...great acidity. Fantastic nose of licorice and herbs. Powerful anise and cherry and cassis snotes on the palate-very spicy.

A delightful Napa Cabernet! We slurped. I've had good luck over the last week in the "wine sweepstakes."
