2005 Guy Chaumont Bourgogne Côte Challonaise 12.5%
Was curious to try this <$20 bourgogne after a positive sighting in Alice Feiring's blog. Pleasant cherry and forest floor, with a touch of barnyard. Lovely fruit, surprisingly dark and muscular, with bright acidity. Excellent food wine. Didn't detect much pinosity, so might have guessed a lively Loire cab franc minus the leather. Despite some lack of typicity, gave us much pleasure and punched way above its weight. Terrific QPR and my favorite in this category since a Duband La Cerisiere from a few months ago.
