1996 Weingut Dr. Crusius Traiser Rotenfels Riesling Auslese - Germany, Nahe (2/1/2010)
From a half-litre bottle, with a fully soaked cork, depressed by a full cm and with signs of seepage, though level still decent.
Clear and bright gold in colour with a little lightening at the rim
A nice balance of sweet & savoury on the nose, initially peach/apricot skin, but followed by a slightly more savoury aspect that I can't quite pin down.
On the palate, softened (not stewed) peach/apricot, with supporting lime, but with a lovely creamy texture (and arguably even flavour). Acidity supports perfectly, never falling short, but never demanding attention. On the finish, the lime moves ahead of the other fruits and there's a nice twist to the tail with a faintly buttered popcorn element as the finish fades.
