2004 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie (1/31/2010)

One of my favorite CR producers. Popped and poured into a decanter. Showing well from the get go with herbs, smoke and a little reduction. Opened up more to add grilled bloody meat and bacon. The palate was very expressive with lavendar, more spice/herbs, very savoury, iodine and a touch of stemmy greeness (a good thing). Nicely layered if not terrible complex. The intensity is nothing like a '99, yet it still holds it's own. Very nice length and balance. for a weaker vintage, this wine clearly performs and is in a nice place. There is also no mistaking the sense of place/terrior of this wonderful jhuice. It should improve it's complexity for the next 3-5 years and drink well beyond that. Very happy to have a few more.
Regards,
Gregg
