Drinking window on 89 Vouvray?

Loire fans,

Would you have an optimum time in mind to drink a bottle of 1989 Domaine Dorleans Vouvray Coulee d'Or Moulleux?

I don't know about your bottle. I have had a basic Pichot Vouvray 1989 a few years back and it was just fine. I still have one in the cellar and while I don't think its going to get any better I also don't think I need to be in any hurry. Not sure how to relate to your bottle but hopefully this helps.

I agree with Brian. At this level, I think it's probably ready to go. But it shouldn't fall apart from one day to the next and it depends how much age you like on your chenin.

Haven't tried the exact wine in question but I'd opt for drinking it, sooner than later. The 1990 Moulleux of this label is fully mature (bought a dozen at release and drank my last one 2 years ago - slightly on the downhill but still a 90 point wine). Bourillon d'Orleans are a fine maker, but they don't seem to make their sweet chenin's with the same staying power of S.A. Huet and M. Bredif. 1989 was a very good year in the Loire, it must be said. Hope it turns out fine for you.
Cheers,

David

I would agree with other posters. Chenin's can last a crazy long time considering the price of the bottles. I've had very fresh bottles from the early 80's which must have been available for a song back then. If it is your only bottle, I'd pop and enjoy it.

Thanks everyone, that sounds like a consensus. The Wine has had good provenance these last few years, so here's hoping it's still performing at a peak. I'll report back.

Tony,
Interestingly, I also have a bottle of that exact wine in the cellar waiting for the right occasion. I'm not really sure how to pair this particular wine, since it may show a bit drier than, say, Huet Moulleux Premiere Trie.
