WTN: Gruner Veltliner with a German Accent

2005 J & HA Strub Niersteiner Grüner Veltliner Kabinett feinherb
This is from young vines in the Rheinhessen of Germany, but displays remarkable varietal character as well as a degree of palate coating richness. It's almost brothy in palate feel, and the ripe fruit that is the hallmark of the Rheinhessen is complemented by Gruner-typical herb/vegetable notes. Really surprising how delicious this has become. It won't win complexity contests, but it will win yummy contests.
