Finnish 'Wine of the Week' is alive and kicking

by Hannu Lehmusvuori » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:20 am

Hi,
After a bit of hibernation my 'Wine of the Week' site is again alive and kicking, and invites you to a visit in my visual world of experiencing wine. It's a paradox that it seems to have taken a cold winter and lots of snow for the hibernation to end. But snow and winter are inspiring!

Hi Hannu, Nice to see you here. It' been a long time. You were one of the first people I swapped links with back in 1998, along with Peter May and Robin Garr.
Just to let you know New Zealand Wine of the Week is still going too together with Sue's Vinous Ramblings.

Can't match your artistic wine bottle representations and winter scenery, though. Very evocative.

Cheers,

Hi Sue,
Very good to hear from you, too! Time seems to fly, actually grows bigger and swifter wings each year :)
And you've been remarkably active all the time! Loved your stuff back then, and love it now.
Last year I seemed to have suffered from a 'lazy-virus' or something of that kind. Now It's been interesting to pick up the pace.
It's actually quite nice to remember those "pioneering" days, and to know that many of us are still around.

I can't hep mentioning what a beautiful time we have here in Finland right now. All the snow, and it's less cold than some days ago, plus the sun is shining. Little diamonds in the trees and on the ground!

I wish all the good stuff your way!
Love,
Hannu

So good to hear from you! Feels like a re-union :) after hearing also from Sue! Now it just takes Robin :)
Any plans of visiting Finland? I still remember warmly the short moment we had together in Helsinki when you were here on a business trip.
Best,
Hannu

Hi, Hannu! Here I am, delighted to see you and happy to know that your artful photos are online again. :)

Of course I hope that we will see you here often ... that you will have time to visit us and participate in our conversations with your opinions, comments and tasting notes, just as we're delighted to drop by and see what's new on your site.

Have you met Otto Niemenen, a Finn from Helsinki who has become active here since your last active membership? Yes, I know Helsinki is a big city, but I thought perhaps wine geeks tend to travel in the same circles. I hope Otto will join in this discussion soon and introduce himself to you.

One more memory, Peter - and now Robin, too: Do you have any news about Leslie Duncan? She is the (Finnish-)Canadian lady who used to be active here and in the Canadian site called Burgundy-something (if I remember correctly). I've lost track of her. We used to have such interesting correspondence.
Best,
Hannu

P.S. Robin, I'll write back after a moment!

Robin,
Very nice to read you!
Could you send me an email, so that I can write you back to a personal email address. I'd like to send you something via snailmail, and discuss about it.
Great to see how WLP and everything within it has developed!
Best,
Hannu

I have not heard from my pal Leslie in quite a while. The last I heard she was recovering from surgery. I'll send her an e-mail today and see what she is up to. Thanks for the reminder of a very nice woman.

Dave,
Please inform me about any news on Leslie. I really hope she's ok, and would like very much to communicate with her.
Thank you for replying!

Me to. It was an excellent trip for me. A highlight, apart from meeting you, was when the tram that had been hired for us had to stop at a regular tram stop and the waiting queue gazed in at a packed tram full of people holding booze and partying!

But unless a Finnish company wants to know about scheduling and TWS I doubt I will be coming back. Though the call could come any time. I have retired from IBM and am working freelance now.

Peter,
Those party trams in Helsinki are fun! I've been riding them a couple of times. Last time was the release of a new album by a popular Finnish music group - with the group performing on-board :) Unfortunately that group has a background of beeing non-boozers :( Otherwise it was an excellent trip!

I wish I had more friends working for e.g. Nokia, so that I could tell people to invite you over here! But, London and surroundings is always a temptation :D

Finngreetings,
