He will be at Grapes and Hops next Monday. I am a fan of his Barbera and would have ordered some other wines from him except for the shipping costs. Now I will likely have the chance to taste and order them locally.

For the upcoming Triangle Wine Experience early February I am registered for a dinner at Vin Rouge in Durham (French bistro) with Merry Edwards wines. The Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend (only every other year) is in April and I hope to attend the Ken Wright dinner at Fig Tree Restaurant (with Ken on hand) or Joseph Drouhin dinner at Cafe Monte French Bakery and Bistro with Laurent Drouhin on hand. Other vintners whose wines I hope to taste that weekend include Robert Foley, Dick Ward of Saintsbury, Chateau Montelena, David Hirsch of Hirsch Vineyards and Winery (Sonoma Coast), and Domaine Serene with Grace Evenstad present (also some Italian importers.)

Where is the jealous emoticon when you need it.

Ah well, I have 6 tastings over the next 6 weeks, so it could be worse.

Scott (long-time friend....followed him from the very start w/ his days at Santino) makes some pretty exceptional
Rieslings. Hopefully, he'll have some of those along.

Ken Wright's on hand just about every day here. Be sure to ask Grace how Tony Rynders is doing.

Hi JC,
I'm in Wilmington doing some winemaker dinners now and look forward to heading over to Fayetteville on Monday. I'll have my signing pen that writes on bottles, so will be able to sign bottles for people. Look forward to seeing you.

Good to see your name here, Scott!

Stick around if you can - it's a pretty fun place.

Scott,
I probably won't get to Grapes and Hops until close to 6:00 PM. Save some bottles for me!

I enjoyed the tasting yesterday at Grapes and Hops. My favorites of Scott's wines were the Barbera (they sold out at the store so I ordered some for later) and the 2004 Syrah which had a beautiful nose. I saw several members of the Fayetteville Wine Society leaving with bottles of Zinfandel signed by Scott.

When I book flights out of the local airport, I have to be sure I'm not routed from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Jon Leifer made the same type of comment about thinking Scott Harvey would be near the Finger Lakes.

JC..If memory serves, Scott made some really nice Barberas back in the day at Renwood..Mark and I are actually pretty close to each other, tho we have only met in cyberworld. Fayetteville , NY is not far from Siberacuse and yes, it is currently snowing, blowing and quite cold here tonight...We are less than an hour from Skaneatales, the easternmost of the Finger Lakes and about 1 1/2 hrs from Cayuga, a smidge longer to Seneca.

Scott Harvery still makes some nice Barberas. He says it is his favorite wine to make because the grape does so well in the Sierra Foothills.
