WTN: 2002 Artezin Zinfandel

Once in a while you score a bull’s eye. Three day weekend for me and spent Saturday and Sunday around the house...Spousal unit is on an Orioles cruise with the girlfriends in the Lesser Antilles, she's an officer with the Oriole's Advocates as a hobby.
So decided to play a round of golf in southeastern PA. After which I stopped at a favorite wine joint on the south side of the Conowingo Dam. Bought some cab and spied this 2002 zin. Being cautious, but curious, I only purchased one. The store is always on the cool side and I thought it was worth a shot. Wow, what a surprise. Really beautiful zin. This is the first vintage of Artezin Zin. The grapes were sourced from Amador County, Dry Creek Valley and Mendocino County. Spicy, brambly and jammy fruit with earthy blackberry, blackberry liquor, cherry and a licorice hint. Wonderfully youthful in appearance but mature in flavor. What a nice day, and wine! Will return to buy them out. $13.99 and 14.5% Alc/vol.

Nice going for a 7 year old bottle off a retailer's shelf! IIRC, recent vintages (05 and 06 anyway) are all Mendocino fruit.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
