Any Vinfolio customers?

by Dale Williams » Mon Jan 18, 2010 12:42 pm

I don't know if anyone here buys wine from or stores wine at Vinfolio. But this weekend they went into Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors (basically a bankruptcy without going through BR court is my understanding)

http://www.vinfolio.com/thewinecollector

One concerning part is the "Since January 1, 2010, the company has tracked funds from the sale of Marketplace and fixed priced auction items separate from other revenues. The secured creditor will waive any right to these funds and has asked that these funds be paid to the sellers in those sales as soon as practical." Which sounds like before they didn't track separately. Apparently some people who sold wine through the VF marketplace in December got checks that bounced. Ouch. Maybe people who sold after 1/1/10 are ok, but I personally wouldn't consign through VF at moment

There is some concern on some wine fora about stored wine, but personally I think it's a bit premature to worry about that, as VF is continuing under the restructuring and no one has ever complained of co-mingled stock before. But if you are a storage customer you should make your own decisions. And if you are a VF software customer I'd CERTAINLY do an immediate download to Excel or whatever.

If you have wines purchased from VF that have not been delivered, I'd contact them immediately. And hope you paid by CC.

I've never shopped there (or sold any wine anywhere), but till now they had a stellar rep.

I have been somewhat of a luddite in terms of on-line ordering/auctions/futures. The number of problems over the past year or so have validated that approach.

There is the usual gunfire over on eBob. Whilst lurking, there was even mention of starting a poll to list possible contenders for being banned from the forum there. LOL, in-house clean up.
