2008 Dönnhoff Schloßböckelheimer Kupfergrube Riesling Spätlese
Consumed with salt & pepper prawns, this was a perfect foil - deeply mineral, bright, fresh fruit that was more in the lemon/lime vein than a tropical tone (like prior recent vintages) and fantasti, lipsmacking length. This is drier tasting in profile than other recent vintages as well, accenting the mineral depth of the wine. Very fine, elegant and food friendly.

Thanks for the note. I love this '08 vintage! Even as the Pradikat ranges lean towards the conservative end of the oechsle scale, I feel that there is a clearer distiction beween them than any vintage in recent memory -though I haven't ventured into many Auslesen yet.

There aren't many auslesen to venture into, at least compared to recent vintages. Donnhoff didn't even release any regular auslese (thus breaking a 20+ year vertical of Donnhoff auslese for me).
